About
Eureka native Mark McClendon — former US Coast Guard rescue swimmer (started shaping in Alaska) and Cal Poly Humboldt art grad — opened Flying Fish Boardworks in 2010. Hand-shapes custom longboards, shortboards, guns and in-betweener boards for the cold north coast, tints and airbrushes the artwork himself, and glasses them in-house. Also offers quick board repairs and stocks leashes, fins, wetsuits and wax. One-person shop — open Mon–Fri 1–5:30pm or by appointment.
