Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of DingShacks ("the service", "we", "us"). By creating an account or by submitting, claiming, reviewing or reporting a listing, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What DingShacks is

DingShacks is a community-curated directory of surfboard repair shops and shapers. Anyone can browse listings. Registered users can submit new shacks, leave reviews, endorse other shacks, and report incorrect information. Repair shop owners can claim their listing to manage it and reply to reviews.

We are an information service. We do not perform repairs, we do not broker work, and we are not party to any agreement you make with a listed shop.

Your account

  • We use passwordless email magic-links — there is no password to forget or steal. You're responsible for keeping access to the email address linked to your account.
  • You must provide a real email address and be at least 16 years old.
  • You can delete your account at any time. Some information you've contributed to public listings (e.g. reviews, photos on listings you submitted) may remain in anonymised form unless you ask us to remove it.

Listings, reviews, and other content you submit

  • You must have the right to submit anything you upload (text, photos, contact details). Don't post copyrighted material you don't own, private contact details of others, or anything illegal.
  • Information you submit must be accurate to the best of your knowledge. Reviews must reflect a genuine experience.
  • You retain ownership of your content, but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display it on DingShacks and to use it for promoting the service.
  • We may remove content that breaks these terms, is abusive, misleading, or that we judge harmful to the community. We try to be fair and transparent when we do this.

Claiming a shack (paid)

  • Repair shop owners can claim their listing by paying a recurring subscription fee processed by Stripe. The price shown at checkout is authoritative.
  • A claim gives you the ability to manage the listing, reply to reviews, and verify ownership. It does not give you control over reviews or endorsements other users have left.
  • You can cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: we are not generally obliged to refund partial billing periods. EU consumers retain their statutory 14-day right of withdrawal where it applies. Email us if you think you have a legitimate refund case.
  • If a payment fails or your subscription lapses, your claim returns to "unclaimed" state. The underlying listing stays public.

Coffee donations

You can support DingShacks with a one-off donation via the "buy us a coffee" flow. Donations are voluntary, non-refundable, and do not grant any additional rights or services.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • scrape, copy or republish the directory in bulk;
  • submit fake listings, fake reviews, or coordinate review-bombing of competitors;
  • impersonate a shop you don't own, or claim a listing you have no relationship with;
  • attempt to disrupt the service (denial of service, exploiting bugs, probing for vulnerabilities without telling us first);
  • use the service to harass, threaten, or defame anyone.

Third-party services and external links

Listings often include links to a shop's website, social profiles or maps. We're not responsible for what's on those external sites. Likewise, payments are processed by Stripe under their own terms.

No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided "as is". We don't guarantee that the information in any listing is accurate, current or complete. We don't warrant the quality of any repair work performed by a listed shop. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, personal injury, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Termination

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if your activity puts the service or its users at risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via email to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date counts as acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Disputes go before the competent courts of Delaware, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence that cannot be waived by contract.
